No scarcity of NCERT textbooks; more than 4 billion books distributed: MoE

There is no dearth of NCERT textbooks, and more than four crores have already been distributed nationwide for the 2022–2023 school year, according to information provided to the Lok Sabha on Monday. 

In response to a written inquiry, Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi provided the information.

"According to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), there isn't a shortage of textbooks in the nation as of now.

The minister stated, "They have informed us that 4.25 crore textbooks for the academic Session 2022–23 have already been distributed through 950 empanelled vendors all throughout the country."

Additionally, NCERT textbooks are also distributed through its sales counters, which are located at NCERT Headquarters, its Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs), which are located in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru, and Shillong, as well as its regional centers, which are located in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Guwahati.

The NCERT website also allows for the placement of online orders for the purchase of NCERT textbooks, the speaker added.

The minister claimed that Indian Postal Services helps deliver the textbooks that customers order online to their doorsteps.

To assist students across the nation, she continued, "All of the NCERT textbooks are also provided freely downloadable in PDF form through its digital platforms such as E-Pathshala, E-Pub, etc."
